Mel was interviewed for an article that appeared recently in InTheBlack, the magazine for strategic business leaders.  Why?  Because Mel, like so many of her clients, is a small business owner with small children at home.  The worries that go with this sometimes keep Mel awake at night.  What about you?

The article not only addresses the extent of sleeplessness in our society, it also provides some tips for sleeping better.  Some you will already know, but some may be a surprise.

  • Cut down on caffeine and alcohol.
  • Avoid late meals
  • Excercise – but not close to bedtime.
  • Go to bed and get up at the same time every day.
  • Switch off – don’t bring work home with you at night.
  • Have a tech-free hour before bed.
  • Get lots of light during the day….but dim the lights at night.
  • Establish an enjoyable wind down routine.
  • Don’t lie in bed sleepless for too long – get up until you’re sleepy again.
  • Value sleep – it’s critical to your mental health.
