The Education Tax Refund (ETR) is a refundable tax offset that can be claimed when you lodge your client’s tax return.

Clients who had eligible education expenses for their child’s primary or secondary school education during the 2008-09 year, may claim an ETR of up to 50% of those expenses if they received family tax benefit (FTB) Part A or a payment was made for the child which stopped them from receiving FTB Part A during that period.

For clients who are not required to lodge, agents can use the manual standalone claim or make a claim using the tax return.
